So the time has finally come and elder Pulver has left Panamericana. But, dont worry a missionary of the same experience and coolness has arrived and we are ripping pana up. haha we are doing our best to make this place improve. It is definitely a tough thing to do but it is ok! We will do it anyways. :)
So, Elder Cadima is my new companion. Yup you heard his name right. He is not a english speaking missionary. haha He comes from the realm of Bolivia. He is really cool though. It is still a little tough because some things I still dont understand completely, but he is really patient and is helping me a lot with my spanish. It is not easy at all. I have a hard time expressing myself at times, but for the most part I can say what I feel or need to say. It is a new adventure and I love it! He is a lot different than Elder Pulver. I have already learned so much and I feel that I am becoming a more effective and better teacher. I still of course have a long way to go, but it is a work in progress. Oh and elder cadima has a freaking cool accent. :) haha I hope I end up talking like him. So yeah that is elder Cadima. He is a energized and funny Bolivian. Oh and yes we get along really well.
So this week went by quick. I cant explain how weeks feel out here. It feels like they are only a few days long. It really feels like nothing. I cant believe that I only have a cambio more here. Well I think. I only really know Talca. I actually am excited to see a little more of Chile. I love this place haha it is so freaking cool. So today we went and played soccer again. Oh my heck. I am so tired! There is this elder in our district who just got transferred here but has like 22 months in the mission. He is tough to get along with and is always saying really rude things to me. I dont really like it, but hey, what can you do haha.
This week.
So something funny that happened this week is, we just finished a visit with a less active family and as we started walking to our lunch appointment we walked by this puddle of water and Elder Cadima being the tard crazy kid he is tried to do something cool to be funny or something like that and he totally slipped in the puddle and he got water and crap all over his shirt and pants haha it was so funny! I couldnt stop laughing and neither could he. We probably laughed about it for a good 15 minutes haha. That makes the chart of funny stuff on the mission. :)
Something else that was really interesting was we went to visit this contact we did in the street one day and when we got there we started talking with the sister of the girl, so we didnt even talk with the girl we did the contact with haha and we started telling her about us and a little of what we believe. She looks at us and says, ¨you believe god and jesus are two different people?¨ we of course said yes, we know that god is our heavenly father and jesus christ is his son. She started to chuckle a little and we asked her what she believed and she told us that they are one person. Well we started talking about that for a little bit and she tried to show us scriptures that said they are one, but when we explained what the scripture truly meant and showed her others that said they are two people she kinda stopped talking or trying to prove her point because she knew she couldnt. So write as we started to move on, a girl walks in the house. I dont know who she is, so dont ask haha. But she got in and this other girl, who we were talking with turns to her and says hey they believe that god and jesus are two different people. This new girl looked at us like she thought we were kidding. haha actually it was really funny. So long story short this girl came in and started to try and prove us wrong. Well obviously she couldnt, because even the bible is clear on this subject. haha So after she tried and tried, she went to making up stories of how she had a vision during a ¨concert¨(well its the best word for a sacrament meeting for them) when her BROTHER was PRAYING for her. She said she saw god. He was one person she said. Well to finish this up without going to deep into it, we left her, after an hour of trying to help, with an invitation to pray about what we said. Haha it was really interesting. It was almost a battle of bibles. After a while I was like wow this is going no where, but elder Cadima wanted to keep going. haha so yeah that is that story.
Last thing, I HATE DRUNKS!!! Last night going home we ran into a drunk and Elder Cadima, new to this sector, greeted him by shaking his hand(mistake 1). They never let go of your hand if you shake it. Then he stopped to talk(mistake 2) they grab onto you and dont let go. Well to say it softly this guy was smashed. He smelt so bad. He grabbed onto me when I was trying to help elder cadima out of the death grip. He held me spitting on my and breathing his nasty alcoholic breath in my face for a good 10 or 15 minutes. Finally he let me go and I was like ok well we got to go we are already 10 minutes late. He was like no, grabbed me again and I had to pry my hand free to get away. haha as we missionary walked away he kept yelling your a lost man, and bad words. haha So, I hate drunks. They waste time are rude and when you leave them you still smell them. I could smell him almost all night. haha welcome to chile.
Well that was some of my week. :) I love you all! See ya around.
Love,
Elder Brown
